MY STORY

Remember, the entrance door to the sanctuary is inside you. -Rumi

I’ve been on a journey in this lifetime, which has led me to this calling.

At 19 I was diagnosed with psoriasis, a skin disease with scaly, dry skin covering every inch of my body. I was ashamed, unsure who to turn to, and wanted to ignore and repress everything deep down.

Cortisone creams, tar shampoos, and light therapy was my prescription, however my deep seated wounds did not seem to respond to conventional western medicine.

At the end of that year, I tore my ACL in my left knee, ending my career as a collegiate athlete on the local community college, or so I thought...

The next year of physical rehab helped me heal in so many ways. I found my inner strength, inner voice, and bounced back twice as strong as before returning to collegiate basketball and transferring to a four year university on an athletic and academic scholarship.

I was also fortunate enough to find the love of my life who has shown me that real, true love can only be had when you can show that to yourself.

Physical therapy is an art form and medium that allows healing. I have experienced it first hand, as well as second hand through the years of treating patients. So many patients have found their inner strength and personal freedom through the intention and mindfulness that physical therapy cultivates.

Over a year ago, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, a form of arthritis due to my skin condition. In the past year I have honed in on my supplement, nutrition, exercise regiment and daily spiritual/mindfulness rituals in order to allow myself the personal freedom despite the diagnoses attached to my medical chart.

I also have honed in on my skill as a board-certified Orthopedic certified specialist. I believe blending the soft and hard science is best practice, while staying up to date on current evidence in physical therapy as well as all health fields.

Let me help you get your personal freedom back by taking the first step in CHANGING your pain, and beginning your rehab journey!

Lastly I have worked through my own shadows and wounds to promote healing and inner strength and cultivate my own Personal Power. My personal mission is to promote, advocate and educate on the importance of Urban gardening/farming, ethical treatment of animals, owning and having access to land, and supporting local.

Hope to talk to you soon, and get you started on your journey,

Doctor Mia
